Government Relations Events
The Chamber takes great pride in our ability to give our members direct access to legislators and elected officials through various programs and events, including Small Business Day in Albany, Small Business Summit in Washington, DC and two Legislative Dialogues. These events educate members on the relevant policy issues within state and federal government. In addition, members have the benefit of attending one-on-one meetings with legislative representatives within the Greater Binghamton area, in Albany and in Washington D.C.
One-on- Legislative Dialogue in March (Binghamton)
Sponsored by the Small Business Council’s Legislative Committee, this event offers local constituents an opportunity to ask questions and voice their opinions to state elected officials. Invited guest panelists include: Senator Thomas W. Libous, Assemblywoman Donna A. Lupardo, Assemblyman Clifford W. Crouch and Assemblyman Gary D. Finch. The Chamber also presents our Annual Legislative Agenda, which is compiled in response to the Chamber membership’s input on the Annual Legislative Survey, which asks companies to identify what legislative issues have the biggest impact on their business.
Small Business Day in March (Albany)

The Chamber works very closely with two energized statewide organizations, the Business Council of New York State and the Chamber Alliance of New York State. Typically during the month of March, these groups work together to sponsor a Small Business Day in Albany.
This is the one day each year when we really need our businesses to rally together and provide a strong and unified voice. This is THE day set aside for small businesses to be recognized and to be heard.
America’s Small Business Summit in April (Washington, DC)

America’s Small Business Summit provides an opportunity for small business supporters to participate in thought-provoking sessions on relevant policy and management issues, while bringing the collective voice of business to Congress.
The Summit gives attendees the opportunity to hear the latest on pressing small business policy issues, participate in management and leadership sessions with the experts. Attendees hear from Congressional representatives at the rally on Capitol Hill and are invited to meet individually with their members of Congress to address their personal policy concerns.
Annual Legislative Dialogue with Mayors & Supervisors in September (Binghamton)

Sponsored by the Chamber’s Small Business Council Legislative Committee, this Dialogue provides a forum for Mayors and Supervisors from municipalities throughout the Greater Binghamton area, as well as Broome County Executive Barbara Fiala, where they can address a number of topics important to the Greater Binghamton business community and taxpayers.
Topics addressed in the past include: Consolidation; Economic Development; "Restore NY"; Brownfields; I-86 Upgrade; Town – County Relations; Ongoing Impact of Flooding; and Attracting and Retaining Young Professionals.
